Toronto Draw At Home Against Red Bulls

It was a rainy Thursday night in Toronto, and TFC came away with a hard fought point against a strong attacking New York Red Bulls side. The Red Bulls came out firing on all cylinders, and dominated the opening 20 minutes of the match, but it would be Toronto who would strike first. A quickly taken free kick by Laurent Robert allowed Toronto defender Marco Velez an open header on the goal which he easily converted. New York struck back from a free kick of their own, taken by midfielder Dave Van den Bergh, the shot curled around the Toronto wall and into the lower corner of the net. The match went into the second half with an attacking mentality, but eventually the poor conditions due to rain caused the game to close down, with both teams seemingly happy to split the points.
