The New York Red Bulls of the MLS have signed former Toronto FC and current New Zealand international Andrew Boyens. Boyens played his rookie season in MLS with Toronto, featuring in 23 games, starting 21 of them. New York was able to secure the defender quickly as he had only been released by Toronto on April 14 and immediately found himself with a call to come for a trial with the Red Bulls. The young defender will add some more depth to a New York squad that many people believe can challenge for the MLS cup should they get fully fit and avoid anymore major injury problems.
